Patitapavana Darshan at Singhadwara
Temple · Jagannath · Singhadwara, Grand Road (Bada Danda), Puri, Odisha 752001
The eastern Lion Gate of the Jagannath temple, where an image of Jagannath called Patitapavana, 'saviour of the fallen', is kept in a niche so that those who may not enter can still see the Lord. Foreign Vaishnavas and other visitors barred from the inner temple come here for darshan. The monolithic Aruna Stambha, a pillar brought from the Konark sun temple, stands in front of the gate, and the chariots set out from here at Ratha Yatra.
