Mausi Maa Temple

A small temple of the goddess Ardhasini on the Bada Danda at Balagandi, about halfway between the Jagannath and Gundicha temples. She is honoured as Jagannath's aunt, and the Skanda Purana tells that she drank half of a flood that once swamped Puri. On the return Ratha Yatra the three chariots halt at her door and she offers her nephews poda pitha, a baked rice cake.
