Govardhan Math
Matha · Shankaracharya Marg, Bali Sahi, Puri, Odisha 752001
The eastern of the four maths that tradition credits to Adi Shankaracharya, seat of the Shankaracharya of Puri, assigned the Rig Veda. The present Shankaracharya, Nishchalananda Saraswati, has led it since 1992 and started the daily Samudra Arati, a fire offering to the sea at Swargadwar. It is an Advaita, not a Vaishnava, institution, visited by many pilgrims for darshan of the acharya and for the daily arati by the sea.
