The large tank north-east of the main temple where Jagannath's festival deity Madanamohana, with the five Shiva deities of Puri, is rowed in decorated boats every evening for the 21 days of Chandana Yatra, starting on Akshaya Tritiya. Here Mahaprabhu and the devotees from Bengal met each year, bowed to one another and sported in the water. A small shrine stands on the island in the middle.
