Harihara-kshetra (Maha-Varanasi)

The temple of Lord Harihara, a unique deity half Vishnu and half Siva, on the bank of the Alakananda stream. Known as Maha-Varanasi: here Lord Siva delivers departing souls by chanting the name of Gauranga, so the place is said to be free from the fear of death. Lord Vishnu's footprint is also shown.
