Vamsi Vat
Sacred tree · Vamsi Vat, Parikrama Marg, near Gopeshwar Mahadev, Vrindavan, UP 281121
The banyan grove near the Yamuna where Krishna is said to have played his flute on the full-moon night of Sharad Purnima, drawing the gopis out of their homes into the rasa dance. A small temple of Vamsivat Bihari stands beside the tree, and Gopeshwar Mahadev, where Shiva came in the form of a gopi to see the dance, is a short walk away. Dhira Samira lies just beyond on the river side.
