The temple of Venkateswara on the seventh hill of Tirumala, one of the most visited places of worship in the world. The standing deity's eyes are covered by a broad white namam, opened only on Thursdays; pilgrims climb the hill on foot by the Alipiri or Srivari Mettu steps, offer their hair at the tonsuring halls and take home the Tirupati laddu.
