The chief of Mathura's ghats on the Yamuna, named for the rest (vishram) Krishna took here after slaying Kamsa. Pilgrims bathe and take their vows here before a Braj Mandala or Mathura parikrama and come back here to end it. On Yama Dvitiya, the day after Govardhan Puja, brothers and sisters bathe together in memory of Yamuna feeding her brother Yamaraja, whose shrine stands on the ghat; the Yamuna arati is offered from the steps every evening.
