Kesi Ghat

Ghat · Kesi Ghat, Parikrama Marg, Vrindavan, UP 281121

The principal bathing ghat of Vrindavan, on a bend of the Yamuna at the northern edge of the old town. It is named for the horse-demon Keshi, sent by Kamsa, whom Krishna killed nearby before washing here in the river. Its red sandstone steps and pavilions were built by a queen of Bharatpur, and a Yamuna arati with lamps is offered from the steps every evening; boats leave from here for the far bank.
