Bedi Hanuman Temple
Temple · Hanuman · Chakratirtha Road, Puri, Odisha 752002
A Hanuman temple by the sea on Chakratirtha Road, one of the eight Hanumans who guard Puri. The story told here is that Jagannath posted Hanuman to hold back the ocean, and when he slipped away to Ayodhya the waves broke into the town; so the Lord had him chained, 'bedi', to his post. The east-facing deity is about four feet tall, and special laddus from the Jagannath temple are offered to him daily.
