Shri Devikoop Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth
Temple · Devi · Jhansa Road, Thanesar, Kurukshetra, Haryana 136118
A Shakti-peetha in old Thanesar where the right ankle of Sati is said to have fallen. The temple keeps a tradition that Krishna and Balarama had their tonsure ceremony here, and that the Pandavas worshipped the goddess before the war and offered their chariot horses — so devotees still leave small horses of clay or silver when a prayer is answered. Navaratri draws the largest crowds.
