The mound in the south of old Mathura identified with Kamsa's wrestling arena, where Krishna broke the great bow of Shiva, killed the elephant Kuvalayapida and the wrestlers Chanura and Mushtika, and finally dragged Kamsa down from his dais. Each year on the day before Devotthan Ekadashi the Chaubes of Mathura re-enact the slaying with a towering effigy of Kamsa. Rangeshwar Mahadev and Keshavji Gaudiya Math stand beside it.
