Lokanath Temple
Temple · Shiva · Lokanath Road, Puri, Odisha 752001
The chief of the five Shivas who guard Puri, on Lokanath Road west of the main temple; tradition says Rama installed the linga. A spring keeps the linga under water all year, and only on Pankoddhara Ekadashi, three days before Shivaratri, is the water bailed out so pilgrims can see and worship it. Lokanatha's festival deity lives inside the Jagannath temple as guardian of its treasures and joins the Chandana Yatra boat rides.
