Chakra Tirtha

Ghat · Chowk Bazar, Mathura, UP 281001

A bathing place on the Yamuna beside Ambarish Tila, named after the Sudarshana chakra that shielded King Ambarisha from the anger of the sage Durvasa and was pacified by the king's prayer. The Adi Varaha Purana promises that a bath here after a three-night fast frees one even from the sin of killing a brahmana. The Durvasa Rishi Ashram stands across the river from it.
