Rukmini Devi Temple
Temple · Rukmini · Rukmini Mandir Road, Dwarka, Gujarat 361335
Rukmini, Krishna's chief queen, has her own temple about 2 km north of the town, standing apart because of a curse: she drank water before offering it to the sage Durvasa, who decreed she would live separated from her husband. The 12th-century stone temple is carved with friezes of elephants and human figures, and in memory of that thirst visitors are asked to donate drinking water — jal-dan — in her name.
