Gyan Gudri
Lila-sthana · Gyan Gudri, Vrindavan, UP 281121
An open, dusty lila-sthana in the north-east of old Vrindavan where Uddhava, sent by Krishna with a message of detached knowledge, was instead taught pure love by the grieving gopis; the name recalls how they turned his learning (gyan) into a rag doll (gudri). The dust here is held especially sacred. A Panchamukhi Hanuman shrine and a Jagannath temple stand at the site.
