Shantanu Kund
Kunda · Satoha, Govardhan Road, Mathura, UP 281004
A large tank at Satoha on the Govardhan road, where King Shantanu is said to have worshipped the Lord for a son and became the father of Bhishma. On a raised island in the middle stands the temple of Shantanu-Bihari, the king's worshipful deity. Couples hoping for a child still bathe here and draw a svastika of cow dung behind the temple as part of their puja. The Braj Mandala parikrama passes here on its way from Kumudvan to Bahulavan.
