The spot west of Kurukshetra where Krishna is held to have spoken the Bhagavad-gita to Arjuna before the battle. A banyan on a raised platform, venerated as a scion of the tree that witnessed the conversation, stands beside a marble chariot of Krishna and Arjuna and an old Shiva shrine. Pilgrims read the Gita here; on Gita Jayanti in Margashirsha the site fills for the Gita Mahotsav, and a sound-and-light show runs on most evenings.
