Sati Burj
Memorial site · Ghat Kinara Road, near Vishram Ghat, Mathura, UP 281001
A slim four-storey tower of red sandstone near Asikunda Ghat, raised in 1570 by Raja Bhagwan Das of Amber where his mother, a queen of Raja Biharimal, became sati. It is the oldest standing medieval monument of Mathura: its upper part is said to have been pulled down under Aurangzeb, and the plaster dome was added around 1800. It rises above the lanes just behind the ghats south of Vishram Ghat.
